The Book Club met to discuss the non-fiction book, “The Color of Water” by James McBride. The story spans the life of Ruth McBride Jordan who was a young jewish woman who found refuge and comfort in the black community and Baptist church in Brooklyn, NY. In extreme poverty she saw to it that all 12 of her children finished college and became successful. Many went on to graduate school. Education, to her, was the key to success. Her family’s struggles and her outlook was so inspiring. We all agreed that this book was great and recommend it as a ‘must read”.
