Six of us hikers became birding enthusiasts on a two-day trip to Klamath Falls May 16-17. After enjoying a picnic lunch at Bob Moore Park on Lakeshore Drive, we hiked the Link River Trail and Lake Ewauna Interpretive Trail. Martha Roy shared her wealth of knowledge as she helped us identify Western and Eared Grebes, Northern Harriers, Forster’s Terns, and Double-crested Cormorants, just to name a few. The camaraderie continued as we had a delicious dinner at Nibbley’s Cafe. We spent time at Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge and Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge on Friday, where we viewed White Pelicans, Phalaropes, American Avocets, White-faced Ibis, and Black-necked Stilts. Kris treated us to a yummy salad lunch at their chalet at Running Y before we returned to Eagle Point.
