In the ‘Garten with Ina’ was a culinary event held on June 7, 2013. It was co-hosted by Linda Haynsworth-Krueger and Maxine Williams at the home of Maxine Williams. After picking our recipes from the Barefoot Contessa, aka Ina Garten, we met to share them outside around the pond. An appetizer platter and fresh lemonade started us off, then chilled cucumber soup with shrimp and summer borsch were served with savory palmiers came next. Endive, orange and Roquefort salad was dished up with the truffled filet of beef sandwiches and the chicken salad sandwiches on hearty bread. No picnic-type meal is complete without desserts such as salted caramel brownies, raspberry crumble and honeyed pound cake. It was a leisurely lunch with good food, good friends and several guests!
