On September 4 the Knotty Ladies met at Meridel’s house to conduct business and show off their wares. Two guests, Rosenelle Florencechild and Terry Sheldon, joined us for the afternoon. Our current project, a gift basket to be donated to the D-9 Foundation, was completed. The wine picnic basket contains a few purchased items and many donated items to accompany our quilted table topper. Meridel will deliver it on Thursday.
Future gift baskets were discussed. Members are not obligated to participate in the basket project, but we decided to begin collecting items for a coffee basket. Terry had made a coffe-themed lap quilt or wall hanging that she offered to donate to the coffee basket. We should all be on the look-out for a large basket for this project. Members are encouraged to continue to make baby quilts, quilts for wounded veterans, or any other items for charity.
The group entertained a suggestion from Betty that we might want to consider a retreat in Bandon. The response was positive so we’ll bring this up again when we have more information on it. Dazzling show and tell quilts, both finished and works in progress, were displayed.
Maxine asked that we not include the name Eagle Point Women’s Club on our charity projects until the board has established a policy regarding gifting. We will use only our own Knotty Ladies name but will continue to use the club’s post office box as our address unless the board asks us not to do so.
The Knotty Ladies will return to having a pot luck luncheon for its December meeting. Members will fill their gift bags (to be distributed at the November meeting) with quilting related items having a value up to $10. The location of the December meeting will be announced at the October meeting which will be held at Dora’s home on October 2.
