The Knotty Ladies held their November meeting at Betty’s home. After a heated campaign, we elected Dora as our new treasurer and expressed our thanks to Marcia for being the keeper of the books since 2009. Members signed up to host a meeting in 2014. Our calendar reads as follows: January 8 – Carol Kato, February 5 – Dora, March 5 – Maxine, April 2 – Meridel, May 7 – Betty, June 4 – possibly a shop hop or retreat, July we are dark, August 6 – Hedges cabin, September 3 – Lydia, October 1 – Lynn, November 5 – Carol Kuehnert, and December 3 – TBA.
Dora reported that the Asante pediatric ward would like newborn size quilts for boys, girls, and some that are not gender specific. They especially need bereavement quilts. Flannel quilts are okay. Dora reminded us that Eagle Point High School will hold its craft bazaar on December 6 and 7.
The December meeting will be a potluck lunch at Lydia’s home. Lydia will provide small bites and drinks. Dora will furnish a salad, Lynn — soup, Meridel — bread and assorted crackers, and Maxine — dessert. Lynn will see that we each receive a gift bag to fill with $10 worth of quilting treasures.
Carol Kuehnert will undergo knee replacement surgery on November 13. The Knotty Ladies have offered to provide transportation to and from physical therapy or whatever she needs. We will schedule this service as soon as Carol is ready for us.
The Wounded Warrior quilt blocks were placed on Betty’s design wall giving us all a chance to offer design suggestions. Betty will sew blocks together as her schedule permits. After that she will turn it over to the group and others will step up to take over. It is possible that we may have found a long-arm quilter who will do the machine quilting without charging us. Lydia will confirm that the person can work with the fleece backing.
We will meet again on December 4 at Lydia’s house for our annual Christmas lunch and gift exchange.
