The Piecemakers met on Wednesday November 6 at Rosenelle’s to begin two table runner projects that used either friendship star or flying geese blocks. Rosenelle demonstrated a quick method for making flying geese blocks and before long the group began cutting fabric. Sewing machines hummed as people began piecing blocks. Around noon the group broke for a delicious lunch of chicken salad, croissants and baby carrots that Janet prepared. During lunch, we discussed business issues.
Rosenelle distributed a roster of members and dates for the 2014 meetings. Members then signed up for refreshment duty. December 4—Joan, January 8—Linda, February 20—Terry, March 5—Betty, April 2—Elaine, and May 7—Mary. Since New Year’s Day falls on the first Monday, the group will meet on the second Wednesday in January. Rosenelle asked to reschedule the February meeting to the third Thursday. At Linda’s request, the group agreed to meet from 1:00 to 3:00PM in May, June, July, and August. This will also accommodate those gardeners who prefer to garden in the cooler morning hours. The Knotty Ladies invited the Piecemakers to join them for their Christmas potluck. Everyone agreed that this would be fun and a great opportunity to meet the ladies from the other quilting group.
