Lydia’s home was the scene for the September 3 meeting of the Knotty Ladies. The first item of business was to confirm our field trip to the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) which will take place on Tuesday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m. Members will meet at Lydia’s home by 12:45 p.m. and carpool to the Center. We will have at least five single-bed sized quilts to donate to the veterans who are recuperating there. Donna will give us a tour of the immediate facility. Members who wish to attend this field trip and have not already told Lydia should let her know before then.
Dora presented the group with the completed Coffee Break gift basket that will be donated to the D-9 auction this month. We were able to stay within our budget thanks to the members who donated items or their sewing or baking talents.
Treasurer Dora a reported that we are still solvent but we will need to purchase another roll of batting in the near future. There is plenty left for a few more quilts so contact Dora if you need batting.
The 2015 calendar for regular meetings was set. As usual, members can switch dates if their schedules change throughout the year. Our meeting schedule is as follows: January 7 – Lynn, February 4 – Dora, March 4 – Carol Kato, April 1 – Lydia, May 6 – Linda, June and July dark, August 5 Retreat – Meridel, September 2 – Betty, October 4 – Maxine, November 4 Carol Kuehnert, and December TBA.
Vibrant colors and bold designs as well as soft, subdued fabrics prevailed in table runners and quilts shared by our members. Linda has yet another amazing quilt block to share after Lydia wowed us with a project made using that technique.
The October 1 meeting will be held at Lynn’s home.
