At 9:00 on Thursday, June 25, the plan was to meet at the Talon Grill to carpool to Stewart State Park at Lost Creek Lake for our first Walkabout walk. I knew that I had forgotten to send out reminder emails, so even though a lot of ladies signed up for the walk at the luncheon, those who actually showed up that day were Ida Tolmie and Janie Monnette (thank you, ladies!). So the three of us decided to go for it! It was about a 25 mile drive to Stewart, and the weather was perfect for walking: sunny skies and a temperature of 73. The trail started at the Marina store and cafe and the walk was beautiful, through the woods with views of the lake along the way. We decided not to attempt the one serious slope that would take us down to the water and made our way back to the Marina. Our walk was just under 3 miles. We then stopped at the cafe for brunch, where the food was very good but the service was iffy. Regardless, I’d say we had a very good time and that the walk was a success!
