May's Book Club met at the home of Virginia Felker. This months book selection was 'The Great Alone' by Kristin Hannah.
We began the discussion on how this author comes up with her ideas and the process that goes into formulating and completing a novel.
We next moved onto a discussion of the remoteness of Alaska, and the hardships of living off the grid, in a remote location, with severe weather and days with increasing darkness. We also hit on topics of toxic relationships; and family and community support groups. Fighting for survival in this extreme wilderness location was the predominant theme.
We then adjourned for refreshments and a tour of the garden. Then, all relaxed on the patio to enjoy the views and great spring weather.
