The Language of Flowers
Vanessa Diffenbaugh
“In Victorian times, the language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions. But for Victoria Jones, it's been more useful in communicating mistrust and solitude. After an isolated childhood spent in the foster-care system, her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings.”
Thirteen avid book lovers met in the home of Susan Watson to eat a made-from-scratch chocolate cake and discuss this beautifully written book by first-time novelist and real-life foster mother, Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Most in our group have been touched in one way or another by foster children and this fact led to a very lively discussion and an appetite to keep reading.
