Ten enthusiastic ladies banded together for the first hike of the year. We welcomed four new hikers to the group: Lori, Lorissa, Melanie and Kate. It's a reasonable hike to the top with a couple of steep parts on the trail, but it's worth it. Once you get to the top it's a flat stroll to the southern end of the mesa where there's a great view of the valley and the Rogue River. Although a little hazy at the time we were there it was nevertheless a great panorama. February had some beautiful sunny days, although they started off cold. This was no exception. By the time we reached the top people were ready to be removing layers.
We had hoped to see a few early flowers – and we saw about four! All in all it was a pleasant start to the hiking activities of the year, which this year will be led by a different volunteer each month.
