Eight hearty hikers took off to explore the Bandersnatch Trail in Ashland. It was a bit misty out, but that just enhanced the beauty and intricate detail of the Madrone trees and the architectural features of the woodlands. On the way out of Ashland we stopped at the newly re-imagined and constructed Japanese Garden. With input from the community, Toru Tanaka, former director of the Portland Japanese Garden, designed an authentic Japanese Garden in Lithia Park. We were extremely fortunate to have Jennifer, a docent, take us on a tour of this traditional, tranquil retreat.
