WEAVING OUR ANCESTRAL TASPESTRY
The luncheon opened with a fun game by Annette Godfrey. The tables were decorated with flowers and old photos donated by Bob Russell. Annette asked us to fine a certain photo such as a dog, house and so on. The first person to find a photo was given a candy bar. Multiple people where calling out and jumping up to shout that they had found the prized photo.
Kim Thurman, an independent genealogy writer, researcher and past president of Rogue Valley Genealogical Society, was our guest speaker. Inspired by her own family's interesting history, Kim took us through the journey of finding her roots. We traveled back to the Civil war, World War II and to the prison escape of one of her more shady relatives. Kim is extremely passionate about her second life's career and this enthusiasm spilled over into her talk.
