The Mill's future is in flour as efforts continue to get the Butte Creek Mill back to the same old grind. Okay, enough of the silly puns. Our October 18, 2023 luncheon was held at the Rogue Valley Country Club with 38 women in attendance. The day began with a social time and an opportunity to check out all the wonderful activities the club has to offer. New members included Linda McElmurray and Becky Newell. Vicky Summers brought a guest Jan Arnsmeier and Joni Parsons brought a guest Valerie Shehorn. It was great to meet new people and to welcome returning folks.
Jay O'Neil, President of the Butte Creek Mill Foundation was our featured speaker. The Mill is the heart of Eagle Point and vital to the community. Jay provided us with the history of the Butte Creek Mill, an update on the rebuilding projects and plans for the future. The Mill is entirely run by volunteers many of whom belong to the EPWC and have Mill Foundation board positions. These marvelous volunteers were acknowledged during the talk. Jay joined us for lunch and was available to answer questions during and after the presentation. The Mill is such a central and important part of our community and Jay was happy to share his stories and wealth of information with us. After lunch we had a drawing for a gift basket, donated by the Mill, and filled with Mill goodies. Janice Kabel was the lucky winner.
