A hardy seven of us hit the trail on Friday May16, 2025.The weather was gorgeous, perfect for an almost 4 mile hike on the East Applegate Ridge Trail outside of Jacksonville.
Offering views of the Applegate Valley and the snow-capped Pacific Coast Range with towering Siskiyou Mountains in the distance this day was a gem.We watched papa-gliders launch from Woodrat Mountain and dance in the sky. Other mountain views were of snowy Greyback, Sugarloaf Peek and the Red Buttes.
The flowers were enchanting. We saw the Siskiyou Iris, Cat's Ears and bright yellow Deltoid Balsam-root (sunflower family) covering large sections of the hillside.
