Book Group meet at Virginia Felker's home and discussed her book pic 'The Measure' by Nikki Erlick. The book was designed to start conversations around the premise of what would happen if everyone had access to a life-changing piece of information, – that being the length of their lives. The book starts on a day when everyone around the world, over the age of 22, received a box outside their doors that said 'the measure of your life lies within'. The string inside represents the 'measure' of their lives, or the number of years they're fated to live. The underlying question- 'would you open it?'.
Lots of discussion from how it would affect so many life decisions ranging from marriage, children (yes or no) medical decisions, political races; and being shunned by others. How would it feel to be a short stringer vs. a long stringer?
Before adjourning to snacks, all received an envelope that said 'How far will your life take you?'. Did they open it??
