Hello September

August 29, 2026 by Liz Crossman Leave a Comment

Did someone click a switch? August 31, the daytime high was 92 degrees and it seemed like the daytime highs had been in the 90’s or higher for 2 months. Today, September 1, the high will be 77. Who knows, we may even get some badly needed rain. For as hot as our summer has been and the numbers of fires Oregon has faced, we’ve really had relatively few smokey days in the Rogue Valley. For that, and for the brave fire fighters, we are truly grateful.

In a few short days, we will hear the daily rumble of school buses, watch the leaves on trees change colors and football season will begin. Backyard barbecues will yield to casseroles and hearty soups. Our white pants, shorts and sundresses will be traded for jeans, sweaters and closed-toed shoes. But, with all the changes ahead, we still will have so many EPWC activity choices to enjoy. This edition of the Blast will keep you informed about when and where your favorite activities will take place.

Before closing, I want to remind you that, between now and the end of 2026, your Board will be in our budget planning cycle. Our goal is to keep costs down and continue to provide meaningful activities for members. We depend on the generosity of our members who voluntarily open their homes for activity groups to gather. We also depend on volunteer leadership on the board and elections will take place in the spring. So, please go on the website and take time to review the Board’s job descriptions and consider if you want to help keep this the best social club ever by serving on the board. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the responsibilities and time commitments.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon and often❣️

Liz
