“Autumn is the time of year when Mother Nature says,”Look how easy, how healthy, and how beautiful letting go can be.” This quote, by Toni Sorensen, seemed appropriate as I drove around Eagle Point this weekend and noticed leaves turning colors and some beginning to let go. Ironically, this weekend was also the twice-yearly community garage sale. Quite literally, neighbors were letting go of tangible things that at one time were needed and now add little or no value to their lives. AI says letting go means to stop holding onto physical objects, past events, negative emotions or the need to control things you cannot change. Good advice.
A few days ago, some of you received a fraudulent e-mail that appeared to come from me. It stated that the Women’s Club needed gift cards. I assure you, it did not come from me and I hope you saw through yet another way technology can be used for wrong doing. Unfortunately, we have to be diligent, alert and suspicious when we receive emails that ask us to give something. If you receive an email from a member of EPWC that is unexpected or seems weird, trust your instinct. Check it out before you react. An easy way to find out if it’s real or not is check the email address from the sender and compare it to the email in your membership booklet or the on-line roster. Or, simply pick up the phone and call the member and ask if she sent the email to you. Now, its time for me let go of the frustration this caused because it was totally out of my control.
