Betty hosted the Knotty Ladies on September 2. The Ladies discussed participating in the EPWC’s Members’ Market but decided the time line was too short and we still had adequate funds in our treasury so we will pass this year. The schedule of meetings has changed for the month of October as Linda will host the group and will demonstrate the use of Elmer’s School Glue to secure bindings and other projects. Carol Kato will host the November meeting. The December meeting will feature a luncheon buffet at Capers but the gift exchange will not take place this year.
Betty presented the two soldier quilts recently completed. Lydia and Betty did the final work and Grandma Mitchell added the machine quilting. Thanks to all who contributed to these quilts which will be donated to the VA facility in White City. We will ask Lydia to coordinate the donation date. Betty mentioned that there is a gentleman (Gary Squire) in Eagle Point who also does machine quilting for soldier quilts. Dora has more block patterns to consider for our next soldier quilt and Meridel donated a book of patriotic quilts for this project.
Show and Tell featured the two completed soldier quilts, a clever table runner, tissue holders to be donated to the Rocky Point Quilt Guild’s October bazaar, a special pillow case, and scissor holders. A book give-away followed. Books not claimed will be donated to the Eagle Point library book sale.
The Ladies will gather at Linda’s home on October 7.
