Knotty Ladies February Report

February 5, 2014 by Meridel Hedges

A full complement of Knotty Ladies met at Dora’s home on February 5. The Ladies welcomed Linda Townsend as our guest and Marcia and Lynn were able to join us. After admiring the beautifully set table and enjoying a delicious dessert, we got down to business. Two wounded Warrior quilts have been completed and are awaiting labels. The plan is to take them to the VA Rehab Center after our March meeting. A personalized thank you card will be sent to the quilter who donated her time and talent. The group decided to limit our future donations to handmade items (quilts, blankets, etc.) rather than cash to organizations that request a donation from us. There has been no report on how much our donation to the Humane Society brought. We were reminded that the Asante pediatric ward is in need of newborn sized quilts especially for stillborn babies. Flannel quilts are okay. The group decided to take part in the Vintage Faire from 10:00 to 4:00 on Saturday, May 10, at the Butte Creek Mill. Dora will come in costume and do some hand quilting. Members can make items to sell at our booth if they wish. Small items such as pot holders, purses, table runners, and place mats were suggested. If some members want to get together and make a wall hanging, we could conduct a raffle.
Show and Tell followed the business meeting. Carol had made a beautiful baby quilt for a special friend. Linda brought a colorful handbag that she had just finished. The two Wounded Warrior quilts were also shown. Then the group moved to the swap area. Fabrics, books, and supplies no longer needed filled the table. We swapped or simply took items that were on the swapping table. The remainder was donated to the Eagle Point Senior Center.
The March 5 meeting will be held at Maxine’s home.
