Ten of us welcomed the first day of summer by visiting four waterfalls in the Umpqua National Forest. We were mesmerized by the beauty of the landscape and the variety of waterfalls as the water cascaded over basalt and moss-covered rocks. Clearwater Falls is a segmented type; Whitehorse Falls is considered punchbowl; Watson Falls plunges 272 feet over the edge of a basalt lava flow; and Toketee Falls is a tiered waterfall. It was a treat to picnic with friends while enjoying the awesome scenery.
