On June 18th the Eagle Point Women’s Club program will feature Shirley Patton. She has been a member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Company for 30 seasons. She and her late husband Bill, were instrumental in the early successes of the Ashland Shakespeare Theater. She also has enjoyed performing at Southern Oregon University as a guest artist, at the Actor’s Theater and the Camelot Theater where she was recently seen in “Driving Miss Daisy”
Shirley moved to the Rogue Valley in1958 after graduating from Stanford University where she majored in speech and drama. She taught English at Medford Senior High for one year.
She is a founding member of the Extended Circle. This is a group of actors who have performed in nursing facilities and retirement homes for 23 years. She is also the voice of “As It Was” on Jefferson Public Radio.
