Twelve ladies donned their sun hats for a wonderful English Tea hosted by Joan Devlin at her home. Co-hostess was Viki Brown. It was a warm, sunny day which was perfect for gathering under picnic umbrellas to enjoy Joan’s beautiful garden and a variety of English treats. The tea consisted of three courses: appetizers, finger sandwiches and desserts all accompanied by a variety of hot and iced teas. A few familiar items were cucumber sandwiches, ladyfingers and scones with cream and lemon curd. Each lady shared some information on her contribution to the lunch and also on other interesting English lore. Barbara Young, a native English woman, added lots of first-hand information on the role of “tea time” in England. Joan polished her gorgeous antique silver tea set to be both used for tea and admired. Viki shared a violet-patterned china tea service that belonged to her mother. A big thanks to Joan for all of her attention to details and for making this an educational and fun event.
