A blustery, wet day set the stage for a warm and wonderful Culinary Arts group gathering on Feb. 10, 2017 at the home of Viki Brown. The gathering featured recipes from the cookbook: “Grandma Bellino’s Italian Cookbook: Recipes from my Sicilian Grandma”. Susan Watson was hostess for the event and was assisted by co-hostess, Sharyn Close. Susan has Sicilian heritage which she shared in wonderful stories about childhood memories of food and family gatherings. She has also visited Sicily with her husband and had pictures and a wealth of information about Sicilian life and cuisine to share. Susan and Sharyn prepared an assortment of wonderful appetizers and also supplied Italian wine and decorations. Each of the 11 people in attendance prepared a recipe to share and described interesting observations about the ingredients and methods of preparation. We enjoyed an appetizer course, salads, pasta, meat and vegetables and dessert. Susan prepared tiramisu and lemon cookies for dessert which were enjoyed with a little chilled Limoncello. Each dish was a masterpiece and lunch stretched out to about three hours of pure enjoyment. Thanks to all who participated.
