It was a happy day to get together with old friends and enjoy some wonderful food at the July 8, 2021 Culinary Arts lunch. Viki Brown served as host at her home and was assisted by Linda Haynsworth-Krueger as co-host. We decided to choose a light summer menu that was all served cold or at room temperature and was all gluten-free. Some of the selections included watermelon agua fresca, Mexican shrimp cocktail, shaved brussels sprout salad with hazelnuts and crisp apples and lemon mousse with fresh strawberries. We each shared some information on our assigned recipe including challenges in finding ingredients and little tweaks that we made. We discussed upcoming lunches and decided to stay with selecting a whole menu for one cookbook and generally featuring one type of cuisine. Maxine Williams brought and shared some fresh herbs from her garden along with directions for preserving. We all enjoyed some laughs and time to catch up on life.
