11 members gathered at the home of Virginia Felker with co-host Joyce Lingren to sample the creative recipes of TV food celebrity and cookbook author, Alex Guarnaschelli. The recipes were selected from her "The Home Cook: Recipes to Know By Heart" cookbook and were perfect for the summer season. Fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs were staples in many of the dishes and Virginia provided some of the herbs from her backyard garden. Interesting new combinations like cherry tomato and fresh raspberry salad and fresh fennel with oranges and walnut pesto provided a interesting twist on familiar ingredients. Food and company were great as always and we look forward to "Tastes of Oregon" at our September gathering. Thanks to Joyce and Virginia and to all the member chefs.
