12 EPWC members met at the EP Branch Library in October to discuss ideas for getting the hiking group back in an active status. Viki Brown organized the meeting and brought some resources that the hiking group had used in the past. A decision was made to limit the scheduled hikes to months when the weather is most likely to be cooperative ( Feb., Mar., April, May, June, August, Sept., Oct.) and to have a hike leader or pair of leaders organize the details of each one. The group will hold its first hike of the new season on February 20 and Kamie Liston will serve as leader. The whole calendar of hikes and hike leaders is available on the Hiking Group activity group page on the website. Hikes will generally be 4-6 miles and will be on easy to moderate terrain. Members on the hiking group e-mail list will receive an invitation to each hike weeks in advance of the hike and will RSVP to the hike leader. The meeting place for carpooling to hikes is Harnish Visitor's Center. We look forward to seeing you on the trail next year.
