13 eager women began a hike at Tou Velle State Park and proceeded through portions of the Kenneth Denman Wildlife area on a beautiful autumn day in October. This area cover 1,858 acres including land along the Rogue River, open grasslands and hardwood groves and is mananged by the Oregon Department Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. Our trusty guide, Eve Haddock, kept us on course as we wound our way up and down hils, past a small pond and down to the rivers edge for a photo op. Co-leader, Tammy McGrew, brought up the back of the group to assure that everyone got back safely. We had beautiful views of Upper and Lower Table Rock and fall color was abundant. We completed about 5 miles of hiking and then enjoyed a relaxing lunch in a shaded picnic area in the park. A big thanks to Eve and Tammy for planning and leading. No further hikes are planned for 2026, but you will receive an e-mail from Eve about getting some hikes scheduled for 2027. Thanks to all who participated in the hiking group this year and to Eve for coordinating.
