The EPWC community is mourning the loss of longtime member, Joni Parsons. She was born on February 18, 1963 and died on May 14, 2026 at her home in Eagle Point. Joni joined the Women’s Club in June, 2006 and was an active member during the next 20 years. She participated in activity groups and was especially dedicated to attending the bi-monthly luncheons at Rogue Valley Country Club. For a number of years, Joni brought a guest (co-workers, new neighbors) to most luncheons and many of those guests joined the Club as members. In 2022, Joni and EPWC member Susan Watson coordinated a Christmas gift program that paired EPWC members anonymously with a child with economic challenges to provide special gifts. A total of 44 local elementary school-aged children were served with this program and the gifts were all gathered at the EPWC Holiday party before being distributed to the families. Joni did all of the coordination with the schools including getting “wish lists” from the children to help the “Secret Santa” with shopping. She brought a smile and lots of energy to anything she was involved in.
Joni worked for Eagle Point School District 9 as a teacher, principal and district administrator over her long career there. She brought a love of children to her work and was a respected leader. She was also a devoted community volunteer who was a member of the Eagle Point Community Association and the Eagle Point/Upper Rogue Chamber of Commerce for many years. She was serving as a Chamber board member at the time of her death. She worked tirelessly on the community July 4th events, the Vintage Fair, the Easter Egg Hunt and the Santa Shop. Remarkably, she did all of this volunteering while also working full time. Joni was married to Nick Parsons for 35 years and they had a full and happy life. Near the time of Joni’s retirement, she was diagnosed with cancer which she battled bravely until her death. This is just a snapshot of her remarkable life and I’m sure some of you have special memories of Joni. We remember you, Joni, and thank you for your life of service.
Joni’s family has planned a Celebration of Life for Saturday, June 27 in the Olsrud Building at Jackson County Expo. Doors open at 10:00 am and service begins at 11:00 am. All are welcome.

This is a beautiful tribute to an absolutely gorgeous woman with a soul that left people stronger, more seen, and more capable of believing in themselves.
Joni was one of the quiet forces behind who I became. She had a rare gift for seeing possibility in people before they could fully see it in themselves, and she helped build strength, belief, and forward movement in so many lives, including mine. A part of who I am today exists because she believed it could. She will be deeply missed.
Hi Joni,
I just found out that you passed and I want to tell you I’m am sending you hugs and love to heaven, the stars, universe and beyond as there is no doubt you’re kicking ass up there already. The “Laramie Gang” will never forget when Noel introduced you to us, and how you had a romance like no other-we were lucky to watch it unfold. Thirty-five years of marriage is exceptional and a testament to you both. Those college days were crazy and rowdy but you (the professional teacher) were always up for anything and you did it with a smile and a laugh. Your wedding was so FUN and thank you for giving me crap about the orange dress. You told it like it was…..respect. Love to you.
